    Default Mixing Batteries Sizes

Does it effect anything if you hook a 27 and a 31 together. Will it pull off the bigger more or something crazy like that ?

Both batteries will be closer to a 27. It's not good to mix batteries at all. Also if ome of the batteries is older than the other the newwer one will only be as god as the old one.

Hooked one is right. It ain't good. The weaker, smaller battery will be constantly pulling power from the bigger battery and it will rob you of battery longevity and that days power. Don't do it.

I was tolt is was OK to do it by our resident NAPA man cause that's what I was gonna do. I have 27's and was gonna get a 31 when I got the Terrova installed. Then once the 27's started to go down, was gonna add 2 more 31's

I would add to this by saying if you are going to add a 27 or 31 make sure they are both the same reserve capacity or your right back to smaller pulling from larger ( all 31's are not created equally )

Well....it ain't like mixing a 31 will cause the 27s to explode or anything, but you're not going to get the full potential out of the 31s and when it's time to replace the 27s, your 31 will have the capacity of a 27 by then so your new 31 will be hindered by the old 31 and well...you see the cycle you're setting yourself up for. On top of that....how you gonna know when your 27 has hit the wall? The power of the 31 is going to mask it's poor performance.

Like I said....don't do it. Now...I might do it if it was all I could afford, but it's gonna give you heartburn and be more expensive in the long run.

You hit the nail on the head WB. I can't afford to buy 3 new batteries right now. I was happy the wifey let me buy the Terrova and I'lll get all new 31's at one time late on when things starts to get weak.

You running 2 31 on trolling motor and one on the engine. Just the ones on the trolling motor needs to match. The one on the engine doesn't matter.

Hook One.....Don Don just got a 36 volt TM so he needs 3 group 31's. He has 2 group 27's and wants to add a 31 to them. In my opinion the 27's being smaller and older are just gonna pull that 31 down. Yes it will work for awhile but before its over it will have cost him extra moneyin the end, because he will have to buy three new 31's sooner or later....probably sooner.
