    Default Wind Sock question

I bought 2, 36 inches and tried them out Saturday. They worked great but didn't quite slow me down enough. In the tail end of them, the hole is about 6 inches to allow water to go through. IF I close off that opening, which will not allow water to pass through them, will that slow me down even more?

Bigger is better. I have an 15 foot aluminum boat and use 48" in the back and 54" in the front for side ways drifting. Works very well up to about 18-20 MPH.

Doubt it's gonna make a difference. Just add a couple of 5 gallon buckets in a line behind the socks. Should be plenty.

"Log Chains" that way when people get behind you they won't catch anything.

Humm, Lets see. Some folks are just plain guessing, others don;t have a clue but just had to respond, then someone is right. Just don't know which one is right. Oh and Minner, I ain't a wuss so although it may be abit tougher to bring in, I can handle it. Worse come to worse, I do have a 20 foot chain and 50 foot of rope LOL

20 foot chain is way to much. You need two 5 foot sections of chain each on atleast 25 foot of soft cotton rope. The chains are much better in strong winds.

Oh...you wanted a serious answer. Well, why didn't you say so.

The purpose of the hole in the end is two fold. One, it allows water to drain out when retrieved and two, it acts as a rudder giving the sock stability with a straight pull. You remember your buckets? Of course you do. Ever notice how they spiral when you're pulling them?

Closing the hole won't make even a .1 mph difference but it will make your socks spiral and resitence will become uneven cause the boat to sway and turn and possible will have the effect of allowing a faster drift.

    You're welcome. You're a gewber.
