    Maj, if you have a amber eye it is shorted cell. shorted cell will cause charger to stay on until it boils all water out or as Wb says explode. That tool he was using is called a load tester.

    Sounds like you got time and trouble invested. Never liked Exide. Been using Delco's for 9 years with troubles. On my 4th set.
