A 2008 Navionics Premium is better detail. Or an HDS with Insight, which from what I can tell is the absolute best for mapping.

OK smarty, my 798 and 788 are preloaded with Navionics. What can I buy that would give me more detail?

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
I've got a Garmin GPS 178C on the console and it has the best detail I have found. It shows things on lakes that the others don't. Earl Brink buys everyone he can find.
Yeah, I had a 178 and still have the map software for it. Good detail, but on Grenada, Navionics is better. I do remember the detail being really good on Barnett, but didn't have Navionics at that time for comparrison. See the 178Cs pretty regular used. Fish Finder was So So, but the GPS was great.

I have a HDS with insight mapping Will that be good enough you think. I heard that they werent that good but Im not for sure I just purchased it at the end of last year. I havent been able to check it out yet. What about the hotspots would it be worth 50 for the stake beds and brush piles. I would think at that time of year the fish would be shallow or at least most of them

I haven't gotten to try Insight on the water, but looking at it on the boat in the driveway, it looks fantabulous!!!!
I dunno Wilbur...if $50 ain't nuthin for ya, I'd prolly tell you to try it out. You're right, you're going to be looking shallow, but given the tendancy for the water to jump, I could see having a spread of waypoints to get you in the vicinity of a spawning flat as helpful, especially if you're not familiar with the water....say for instance what if the jig pole doesn't pay off and you want to spider rig the flat...obviously, a flat with a lot of waypoints on it would be prime time...then again, if ya got a creek you're fishing and doing well with a jig pole on a creek and you're hitting visible cover...maybe a waypoint or two on that creek for something unseen might pay you a dividend or two or 3 or...
Guess if it's in the budget for ya, I'd go for it and use your insight for navigation and channel/creek finds and the waypoint card as a supplement. If you do get it, let us know how you like it.

The waypoints SD card shows you where structure is located. The Navionics hotmaps will show the drop offs and creeks. If you dont have a 3d unit, you dont need the platinum card.
My Card tells you where the structure is located. Fish like structure!
:D Local guy, Great deals! www.thecrappiehotspot.com Thumbs Up
Hey......Are my condos in the back of Piney Woods on that sd card???
Stick yo jig in there!
Tried to ask my ?'s on your web-site but got a notice it was not delivered. Was wondering
1st which formats and which brand GPS will the chip work with?
Does the encryption used mean you can't download them to you GPS unit and have to always load the chip in your unit to use the waypts?
