    Default Barnet Crappie Reports

Checking to see if anyone is catching any crappie at Barnett. Finally made it down here last thursday and have had very little luck. Catfish is plentiful but crappie is scarce for sure. Caught 4 friday and 3 saturday am. Heard lots of good things about this lake, but it's no Grenada for sure! Planning on fishing the tournament but things have got to get better.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Bite is REAL LIGHT right now. I mean so light you'll never have time to set the hook if you have your poles in rod holders. I was one of those to lazy Saturday and I boloed

In your dreams! You ever caught multiple 3 lbers in a single day? I have at Grenada. You ever catch a limit with better than a 2 lb average? I have at Grenada, many times. Barnett is a fine lake, but it ain't close to the fishery Grenada is.

You want me to lie Feelay? LOL I have weighed 12 over 2 lbs from one trip with 2 pushing 2 and a half.
I ain't ever caught a 3 pounder anywhere yet man and I've fished Grenada probably 15 times so far. Just the fisherman cause I do know of several 3 pounders that have been taken out of Barnett.
I sure hope that those big 3 pounders stay cause I know ya'll are getting more and more people fishing it.Know you and Bigger are new guides and ya'll are fishing more and more plus bringing in more and more people catching those pigs. Then add is the Guides that have already been on it, That all can't be good for keeping the bigger fish size in tact.
I look for this coming year on Barnett to be a good year for real big Crappie. The last 3 or 4 springs, we've had so much wind that alot of fish weren't caugth during the spawn, just couldn't get to them with those 3 foot rolling waves. If we have a North wind, you're pretty much out of luck on Barnett fishing anywhere. Remember the FJ last year? NO good places to fish with that North wind on Barnett

Interesting.....yesterday I read a article in Mississippi/Louisianna Game and Fish magazine and the writer said that Ross Barnett was a lot better crappie lake than Grenada. I was kind of supprised to read that.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Ya'll do have some bigger fish, I'll dang sure give ya that Feelay. Barnett is one fine fishery though with alot of big fish in it. I really wish they'd put a 10 inch minimum on the lake though cause there are way to many fish kept under 10 inches out from under that bridge. Heck, 12 wouldn't bother me nowadays. It woulda broke my hearty about 2 years ago when that's all I knew how to catch LOL

Let me ask you 2 this, How many times you fished Barnett? Be willing to beet I've fished Grenada more than you've fished Barnett. Grenada has a bigger weight per fish, that';s for sure but for just going out and catching fish without pulling cranks or longlining, Barnett will put more fish in your boat from 12 to 14 inches. Bet that's what they are talking about. We're all used to cranking, longlining or Spider rigging but there are so many people out there who don't do that.
