Mine are 9' apart and I don't get any bounce on the 2 to 3' of tip off the back, nor any flex in the center even at high rates of travel......since you made me feel bad about not posting anything helpful and all.

Maj has a Pro Crappie 175 and he mounted his 6' 6" apart. Works GREAT. I do have 3 on mine,,,, couple reasons,,, when I re-did my boat and added the storage it took up the space I would normally put one of them, and just trying them out to see if 3 are really needed, and last but not least, I just keep on making them and trying to make them better, if possible.

The way I figured mine was put my shortest rod that I wanted it to hold and my longest rod that I wanted it to hold then kind split the difference. It's so simple, even a DD could do it.

It appears that the 6 ft. 6 in. spacing is just right for the combination of 8 ft. ,10 ft., 11 ft., and 12 ft. rods.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
