Painting Cranks

They really look good. That finish really seems like it's hard stuff. Can't wait for the OK from you that they are gooing on cranks.

Never mind the cranks. I'm just impressed that you posted the pics where I can see them. Excellent job!!!! LOL.

Seriously, your cranks really do look like you've been painting for a good long while. There's normally a pretty big learning curve with an airbrush from what I've seen over the years.

So, are you starting with a rough looking bait and painting over the existing paint or are you sanding down and base coating it? Also, what are you using on your red/white to get such a straight line? A screen of some kind or taping off?

Thanks, I just rough up the crankbait a little with sandpaper, then base coat with a couple of coats of white. After that dries, I paint on the color. On the red/white ones, I used painter's tape to cover the rear half and painted on the red. Createx airbrush paint is water-based, but it's a pretty durable finish when it dries. I top coat with a two part epoxy finish that I brush on and hang it up to dry.

I quit using Photobucket just for you WB. LOL

Question for ya on the painting. IF I start painting them, Say I paint them all white, will that make the colors stand out more that I paint them?. What about it I paint them all Chartruse and then go on top with another light color, will that make the other light color stand out?

You'll want a whie base coat for any of the flou. colors.

You all got me fired up on this air brushin so i dug out mine its made by snap on.Guess i ll try a few.Used to paint jigs with it untill powder paint came out.

Main reason I want to get into it is I have a BUNCH of cranks that I've bought in lots off Ebay and if I'd buy 30 cranks, 3 or 4 of them wouldn't be colors I'd use. I have 20 or 25 cranks that I won;t use cause of the colors
