DD....I would think that if your having trouble keeping your cranking battery up that you have a problem because the charging system on your outboard motor should keep it up as much as you use your boat. I do have one of the banks on my onboard charger hooked up to my cranking battery but when I plug my charger up the lights on that bank only stay on for a minute or two and then show fully charged....that is because my cranking battery is staying up from my outboard.
better check the water levels on a regular basis so you dont cook 'em
Exactly right....the water is there to keep the acid or electrolite from evaperating and getting weaker. The water is sacrificial......but when the waters is gone then you start losing acid....then when you fill it back up with water you have weak acid....therefore you have a weak battery. Keep your water checked on a monthly basis....and its always best to use distilled water.Quote:
