    Default Braid vs Mono

I tried the braided line and I'm going back to my mono. I like to secure my line on my poles by hooking the snap in the small loop above the handle and crank the line tight. I found out you need line with a little stretch to do that. The braid does have lots more sensitivity and strength but it's just not for me. For now, I'm putting 10# mono back on.

I may be old school but I like the mono the best, but a lot of folks like the braid so its a good thing they got both kinds, Lol.

I too like mono best but I'm going to try it a few more times before I take it off. I have it on my 2 short pull poles and still have mono on the other 2, I do know it really has the WM Pro 8' pole dancing the jig, it telegraphs the wiggle of the CB like nothing mono can do. Like Scott I hate you can't tighten up when you fix your poles for going home, too much loose line. You guys that use braid for pulling got any hints, hate that loose line. Lost my pink WM about 15 mins. into the day on my push pole, mono, first CB lose of the year for me. Plug knocker of no use when the weight is above the lure.

Some of the guys use 7 inch rubber bands to secure their rigs and lines. I think they are called file bands and they get them at a office supply store.

Scott I use braid in the cedar trees, but mono 99% of the time, I like the mono better, especially trolling crank baits, like G-3said thats why we got a choice, I seen on tv last night they are making some kind of new braid that is suppose to be slick and not so hard on your rod eyes, who knows

Yea beagle it's good that we do have a choice. I'm sure that braid is better than mono in certain ways, but I guess I'm old school like G3 said.

I used to use braid back in my green carp days but I like mono high vis yellow. I was using Wally Marshall ( Mr. Crappie)high vis yellow mono but when they quit making it in the USA and went to China made the line was just not as good in my opinion. I now use Cabelas ProLine High vis yellow mono, it is made in Germany and I really like it.

I'll check the Cabela's line out. I'm using the Mr. Crappie hi-vis now which is the Wally Marshall, I think.

To solve the loose line problem with the braid, I think if you loosen your drag a little you can tighten your line to the amount of drag you have.

    Ditto...That's what works for me...
