Set up a smallish minnow tank Friday with a filter and a bubbler since I've been coming home with more minners than fish here lately.....don't say it, I'll smack ya.

So, it's an 18 gallon tote - a Wal-Mart Job with a filter rated for 15 gallons and a bubbler good for 12 gallons. What could go wrong, right? Threw in some dechlorinator and the leftover minners from my trip on Friday as an experiment to see just how long I could keep them. I figure there was about 75 minners in there.

Walked out Sunday AM and there's about 6" of water missing, the water looked dirtier than Grenada lake, both the bubbler and the filter were askew (that means messed up ES) and there's a mud puddle all around the tank. I'm thinking Vic has been over back filling his tanks when I find Coon prints all in the mud puddle. I sure would have liked to have seen that Coon going after them minners. Dang tank is a good 36" long and at least 24" deep. Bet he had a dang time hemming them dudes up. Then again, when I drained the tank and redid everthing there were probably only 2 dozen or so left, so somehow he figured it out. Little thieving peckerwood is dang lucky he didn't kick the filter over in there with him. Would have been BBQ coon city I tell ya.

On the up side, the ones that are left are natures fittest and must be the best wigglers of the bunch. I'm a shoe in for a big limit now.

Put a big piece of plywood on top of the tank so we'll see if he's Coon enough to get back in.

Anyway, no pics, so this never happened.

Wannabe...
