    Default Rez Thermocline???

Anyone you ask will say the Rez thermocline is around 12-13 feet and to fish above that... but I have never been able to see it on my depthfinder. Last weekend I finally saw it. The only place you could see it was in the river channel because it was so deep. Looks to be about 22 feet deep to me.... Also I caught the majority of my fish around 16 feet (about as deep as I could get the bandit 300 to go). I am starting to think this 12-13 foot thermocline is a myth... What do ya think...

Wierd. I've never adjusted my FF to check it out but I DO KNOW that in Pelahatchie Bay, it's 11 or 12 feet is all. I was spider rigging and when I'd drop my bottom rig below 12 feet, my minners would be dead in about 5 minutes. That tells me where the thermocline is at. BTW, STAY OUTTA MY FESHING HOLE lol

AHHHH... Hahahahaha... How about you take the bay... And I will take the big water... Deal???????

Yeah the minnow test is more accurate. All you really need to know is the DO levels. The DO levels in the Rez might not correspond to the thermocline like some lakes.. Who knows.. Wish I had a DO level so I could check it out and see for myself...

Yeah me too... I have read a bunch of old articles in the clarion ledger and mississippi sportsmen and they all say 10-12 feet. It is interesting to me that you can't see it.. Or at least I can only see it at 22 feet. One thing is for sure... I caught fish at 15 feet and didn't catch a one at 10 or 12 feet for the last two weekends.

This is a very interesting subject to me please tell me is the thermocline the comfort zone for Crappie if not what is the temperature that the Crappie prefer. I have a temperature meter that is 45 years old and it measures the water temperature down to 100 feet. If interested I can post a photo of it .

Therodologist... Here is a link to a lot of information about the thermocline. Usually the oxygen content is higher above the thermocline and below the thermocline it is lower due to the oxygen content being used from decaying matter I believe... Anyway.. this should give a great deal of info. I believe fish prefer a certain water temperature and a certain DO content. This should happen close to the thermocline since the water temperature changes rapidly at the thermocline.
