    Simple solution. Get your circular saw out and set the blade where it's as far out as it will go. Next, get some chalk string line and POP you a line done each side so it'll be straight, then turn the saw 90 degrees to how the boards will sit and run down each side with the circular saw. That'll get ya a good bit through the pole for a start. Get a wood chisel and hammer to finish making the cut all the way through it and you're set bud. You won't need to cut but about an inch to an inch n a half off the top to flatten it enough to where the boards will sit flat

    Why not just use a chain saw to eliminate the need fer the manual labor of the hammer & chisel. See WB, he ain't as smart as everybody thinks he is.
