    I just used the self tapping screws that came with them on my boat, and they're hol;ding up fine

    Default screws

    You can use the 1/4" screws that came with it or get the next size bigger= 5/16". Make sure they are Stainless Steel. Pre-drill your hole and put some silicone in the hole. Seals the hole and helps secure it.
