Question 1: It really depends on your boat and motor. I have drug 2 buckets with my 1860 G3 and a F90 Yamaha. It slowed it considerably more than 1 bucket. I tied one on each side of the boat to a cleat and it worked well.

Question 2: 1.5-2.2 mph depending on the day. Some days I have caught fish at almost 3 mph. Just experiment until they tell you how fast they want it. A good rule of thumb is to start at about 1.7 to 1.8 mph.
