Default Just checked my notes from last year

Hey guys it looks like the 12" rule on Sardis may be helping out. Our FJ tourney held on July 11th 2009 was won by a 7 fish limit that weighed 9.9 pounds. This years weight was 11.79 pounds and had several stringers over 10 pounds. So maybe the length limit is paying off or we just had a good year with higher water and the fish weren't stressed as bad . Also in the few trips I have been to Sardis this year I have seen more keeper fish in the 13-14" range than I have the 12" and under fish. ( other than last saturday in the tournament) Are the rest of you seeing this also?

Slabo, while I can not answer any of your questions here cause this past Saturday was my first time on Sardis. I will say that we had our 7 fish limit by 7 am and only had 2 throwbacks at that point. To me any lake that you can go to and catch 38 13-14 1/2 inch fish is a pretty darn good lake. I guess on the day we had probably 20 throwbacks so I guess that ratio is pretty good. Again, like I said, I have never been there and don't know what the condition of the lake was before but I think it is pretty darn good now.

I think you are right that was one of the best stringers I have seen on sardis for this time of year its usually around 10 pounds and there were several over that

    Default Think you're right Slabo

Last year I had ALOT more throwbacks than this year. There musta been a heck of a spawn 3 or 4 years ago with all these fish the same size like they are

That was my first time of Sardis too but I threw back so many 13" fish, I lost count. Had a blast.

I think it's a combination of things going back a year or so. Last summer was pretty tough cranking out there because of the rain and cooler temps, the water color was off all year and thermocline never set up so the fish didn't get pounded as hard. Then, this spring the lake was high the whole time and the fish were pretty spread out and hard to find, again, didn't get pounded as hard. Now this summer everything is setting up right and there are a lot of carryovers left in the lake that should have been caught last summer and this spring, it's the best keeper:throwback ratio I've seen there but I don't think it's all due to the 12' limit.
