the kicker motor works like a champ. The only reason I am using the kicker is the savings on fuel and being a little quieter. Sat was able to steer kicker by turning big engine left or right. I like it but if I did not fish much I would run my big engine to pull cranks.

Thanks for the info torch....I kinda thought that was the reason. My 4 stroke 115 does not use much fuel at all and it is very quiet so I think I will just go with a trolling plate and use it. It will also idle all day long without even trying to foul the plugs.

Thanks Torch. Still pondering trolling plate or drift socks. If I use the plate, I cannot use a stabilizer, I realize that there is a stabilizer with the trolling plate made onto it.

Get a Happy Troller and it works like a stabilizer. I have one on my boat.

I realize like sat said that with the trolling plate in the up position that it acts somewhat like a stabilizer, but I don't think that it would work as good. That being said I am going to experiment one day and mount a troll-a-Matic on to my stabilizer. I might have to modify a little bit but I think it will work. The guys down at the boat shop think it will work also. Anyway thats what I have on my drawing board to try out sometime. I have a SE Sport stabiler and it really works great and makes a lot of differance in my boat control etc.

I had a Bob's Machine Shop stabilizer on my boat. When I installed the trolling plate I lost 3 MPH on top end but the boat does not porpoise either. With out stabilizer boat would beat you to death when trimmed.
