I read that the Oak Grove Campground is first come first serve..... does anyone think we will have trouble getting a spot? I am guessing no since they show they have 82 sites but you never know. Any idea if there is a swimming beach at this campground?
We camped last year below the dam for the fruit jar tourney & campout but I have no idea what campground that was. There are 5 different ones right there below the dam. I know you can reserve sites at John Kyle state park but we would want to camp close to everyone else.

Nessa, there are plenty of spaces available on non-holiday weekends at Oak Grove. Most people on here don't stay at John Kyle because of the crowds. There must be a swim beach nearby because I saw several folks walk past our site in dry bathing suits one way and wet suits when they returned. It looked like a pretty good walk though. Perhaps you should just layout at our site and cut out all the walking.:D

Well Oak Grove it is then. I figure I'll be doing more fishing than swimming but as hot as it will probably be I had planned on getting in the water some. lol.

I think Brad Paisley sings the one I am talking about. White Tshirt fixing to be drenched in water.
