I read somewhere that with that much line out how high or low the rod tip is really does not affect it that much.

I think I know the answer but want to make sure I'm right. If a Bandit 200 is out 100 foot back, the chart shows it'll be 12 1/2 foot deep. If I have the rod tip 5 feet off the water surface, how deep will it actually be running? I don't think it'll run at the 12 1/2 the chart shows but you can't just take 5 feet off that either for a 7 1/2 foot deep run. I THINK it'll be half way between the 2 or real close so that'd put it running at around 10 feet deep

Rod tip height will have no effect on the depth.

When tests were performed that created the charts, their rod tips were 18" above the surface. If your rod tips are 5ft' above then you need to add 10% more line according to an email I received from the author.

Satdoc1 it's speed that has no effect on how deep a crankbait will run. They are designed to run a certain depth from the factory primarily by the bill size and design. It does effect how quickly the bait gets down to the target depth, the tightness of the wiggle and the pitch of rattle inside the bait. Think about it like this. If you were casting a crank out 40 feet from a pier that was 20 feet above the water it would run more shallow than Torch if he has his rod tips 6" above the surface off the side of your boat and letting out 40 feet.
