Here's about the best I've got at the moment Scott.

Very similar to yours. I've got a retired master machinist buddy out in Denver that likes me for some strange reason and he designed and built these for me in his shop. I sent him pics of several holders and told him what I wanted it to be able to do. Might have included pics of yours, but honestly, I can't remember now whether or not I did. Work really well, but I have trouble with a couple of them not wanting to lock down tight enough. And the tolerance is too exact for the crossbar attachment into the upright. I've had one bind so bad I had to pry it appart and polish it and reinsert with anti-seeze. Dang thing needs more polishing still.

Sounds just like any house plumbing work I do around the house. I have learned though to how to make it just a 2 trip job instead of 10 trips to the hardware store...buy 10 of everything in the plumbing department and take back all unused parts when done:rolleyes:

On the upside, you now have an intimate understanding of all her plumbing parts!

Flattering. No big deal, I was just wondering. I am sure he had pictures of mine, or he has a great mind :p:rolleyes::D

The same problems I had when I first started building for myself. Tighter is not always better... He must like you though, there is some money in those rigs!!

One other change I would have made would be to upsize the bases a bit. Lot of pressure on a small area. Still holds up fine, but worries me if some yahoo climbs in or out of the boat using it as a grab handle. My family is chuck full of yahoos too.
