Major, I know it's a major (pun intended) pain but I highly recommend that you take the time to run your nice new power cord all the way to your battery. You are risking a $600 FF by not using a fuse plus you may pick up interference from your wiring harness as you use other accessories (12v fan, spot light, livewell pumps, on-board charger etc later on.
Thanks Mr. Jim and Yikess. I thought I was connecting exactly to the same places that the Tracker guys did when they installed it new. Would I connect to the crank battery? And would it be simply red to pos and black to neg? BTW yikees, there is an in-line fuse on the red wire.
go to the Crank Battery. Sometimes you can get interferance from the Tm if it's running if you hook to the Tm battery
Yep, connect to the cranking battery and do the same for your 998. Nothing like clean power running thru new wire to help you fine the fishies.:D
Check the amerperage on that inline fuse and make sure it matches what H'bird recommends. Think they like 3 amps while Lowrance likes 6. Could be wrong on both counts though.
Me, I'd tap in. If I got interferance, then I'd go to the trouble.

in my lowrance
Weird, I remember that now for your 520. Happened to look at my new to me LCX 20 yesterday and it was 6. Maybe LMS and LCX is different???
