My fishing buddy, EZ, gave me the holder, I just screwed it into the back of my seat. It seems very sturdy, is adjustable (front to read), and has a set screw to hold the umbrella handle.

It looks good Maj. I mounted my on board chasrger under the back deck in the battery compartment....kinda keeps it in out of the weather that way. I am going to have to do the unbrella thing....this heat is tough.

G, I didn't have room in there after I added the 2nd deep cycle battery. It wasn't in the way at all today and it's waterproof, so I think it'll be ok.

You'll like the charger Maj. I used to have the seatback umbrella, but as you know now doesn't keep you shaded when the sun is low. I use a big patio umbrella now, it's lots better.

Thanks G and Feelay. Feelay, why did you have to have the shaft shortened on your Terrove, yea, I know "because it was too long", but why didn't you get a shorter shft when you got it? How long a shaft do you think I'll need for 175 Pro Crappie? And is your patio umbrella mounted to the back of the seat like mine or some other way?

I cut the shaft because the head would have been outside the boat when stowed. I bought one with a 60" shaft because it is the only one they make with i-pilot pre-installed. If you buy a 54" or 48", you have to buy the i-pilot seperate, which is a couple hundred dollars more expensive. I cut mine down to 50". You would probably be ok with a 54" shaft. I have a rod holder mounted to the rear of my front deck that I use to keep my ego net handy. The shaft of the patio umbrella fits in it perfectly. It has a telescoping shaft to adjust the umbrella high or low. Still, there are times of the day when it doesn't shade me. I haven't found anything yet to keep you completely shaded all day when fishing.
