    Default Water pump impellor

Ok....The boat shop wanted $150.00 labor to put a impellor in my 115 Yamaha four stroke. The parts were 42 bucks.........I saved a 150 bucks and did it myself. Its really not that bad of a job although if I had had a third hand it would have been a lot easier.

I wasn't skeered of it. I was a equipment mechanic all my working life so I will try to tackle most anything mechanical.

I need a show of hands. How many of you think this thread belongs on the Fishing Section of the MS Board. Honestly, does an impeller really belong in Other Topics?

Good job on the do it yourself deal G-3. Just never got up the nerve to try one on my own. But, yeah, $150 sounds about right for a shop to do it.

Mine was four years old...looked good and the rubber was still soft. They will last a long time if your running in clean water and use your boat and motor on a regular basis. What kills them is muddy water, shallow running etc. and letting your boat sit up for long periods of time between trips. They do reccommend once a year though. I changed the one on my 50 HP once a year....I just waited on this one because I guess the size intimidated me a little. ( That lower unit is not light on that 115....I had to hold it up with one arm and while I hooked the speedometer hose back up...that was kinda tough for a old man). But I will probably change every two years from now on.

LOL...I know what you mean there. By the way...I got a air start on the ground once...I started a T-56 on a P3 when I was up at Adak, Alaska....Was on the ground facing the wind and tied down with 13 tie downs. Adak is known as the birthplace of the wind. I unfeathered the prop and it got to turning good I hit fuel and ignition and it started it right up. I went in the hanger and was talking about it and one of the pilots overheard me and did not believe it....so we went back outside and I showed him.
