Thread: Looks like everyone took off today to

I took off tomorrow. I just got a report from my brother about a local lake that nobody fishes for crappie. My granddad bass fishes this lake all the time and says he rarely ever sees a crappie. Its in a state park and if you look on the state parks website it does not even mention crappie in this lake, just largemouth, cats, and bream. This past fall grampa ran into the twra folks in the shock boat doing a survey and they told him they could not believe all the big crappie they were seeing. My brother called me from the lake today, he is out there with gramps bass fishing and has caught 2 crappie between 11 and 12 inches, caught them on texas rigged plastic worms. We're going back tomorrow with some jigs and minnows and try to catch a mess. I've got high hopes this is going to be a really good trip.

I live in Memphis, I didnt figure anyone in the arc of slabs would be interested in driving past Granada, Enid, Sardis, 'Butla to go to a little 'lectric-only state park lake in Tennessee. I guess I coulda posted this on the Tennessee board but but I like yall better. Not much west Tennessee talk on the Tenn board, the rest of the state dont really claim us.

Its Poplar Tree lake in Meeman Shelby Forest just north of Memphis.

I tried it early this morning. Skunked again. That's becoming a habit I need to break. But, it was very windy. Wouldn't you know it, the wind laid down after I got the boat home.

Talked to a buddy of mine yesterday afternoon and he caught a 2 lb 14 oz pig out of the rez. You better leave those mud bugs alone and go fishing.
