    Default Terrova or PowerDrive

Help needed picking which TM to get. Just for now only want built in sonar option. I will add I-pilot option soon.

What are the main differences in these two motors? I want the 52" (or is it 54") shaft, 70lb in the power drive or 80lb in the terrova. The foot pedals look different. and the bases look different. Is there an improvement in the stow/deploy with the terrova. Had read some complaints about stow/deploy with the powerdrive. Any help would be welcome.

    thanks

I'll follow your post, some of the same questions. Have read on the main forum that some have problems with the foot pedal. I'm all eye's.

    Thanks Jeepster!

Did see that the terrova will retain use of the foot pedal with the I-pilot installed and the powerdrive will not. I think I would like to still have the foot pedal for chasing green trout.

I just bought the PDV2 w US2...I looked at the Terrova. After using the PD I would suggest you get with as long of a shaft as you can. I went with the 60" and am now SOOOO glad I did. The other option was the 54". The shorter the shaft the more pressure you have to put on the head to pull the unit out of the water to store it. This will casue problems down the road I think. But if you can grab the shaft it should help it last monger. Because I got the longer shaft I can grab the shaft itseslf and not the head to pull it in the boat. It's an unusual design but I like the way the motor works with the power steering. The sonar is loud and the extra cable is stupid as to why it isn't wrapped into the main bundle of wires, but oh well, I got a mod that will work. You know if you buy the PD V2 before April you get a free co pilot. I saw you had your current TM for sale, did you sell it? I'm also adding 2 years onto the 2 years of warranty that came with the unit. I turned down the extended warranty at BPS as I knew MK would offer one and BPS doesn't even work on them and they will be sending you to the same folks MK are sending you too anyway. It's $130 bucks I think.

IF you want to use the footcontoll just unplug the co pilot on the PD and plug in the foot control.

I think the foot pedal is useless for anything other than speed control. I used to use the co pilot for navigating through the thick, but I have an ipilot now and boy is it sweet. If you can foot the bill, I would go with the terrova.

Terrova is a better motor and design and the steering is finer, plus the stow and deploy is better. That being said, you'd be happy with the PD/V2 as well. But since you're rich, I recommend the Terrova.

I have had a PD Autopilot on my boat for the last 4 years and just recently got a 80 lb Terrova I-pilot. IMO the Terrova is light years ahead of the PD. The steering, foot control and deployment is much better on the Terrova.
