Default Had a First To Happen

This past weekend I was headed down the river and came upon a No Wake Zone and was going to be a good law abiding citizen, specially since I left my wallet at home, and slow down and idle thru it. Pulled the throttle back and nuthin. Still wide open. Shoved it back forward and this time really jerked it back only to no avail. Throttle cable broke. There was a moment of skeered slipped thru my drawers. After some attempts at WB riggin and on the water mechanicing, I decided there was no fixin this issue on the water. I looked at it several times with a spool of line in my hand & then decided to leave well enough alone. Did manage to get her to idle. Saw alot of water with SI that I hadn't planned on seein cause she idled at 3.1 mph. Made fer a long run to catch a few fishes and get back before dark. Got me a new cable in yesterday $30.25 and put her in. Went in too well. Gotta get it on the water now and make sure it's right.

Aite minner, now tell us what you did to stop the boat. This is exactly why I keep preaching to TEST THAT KILL SWITCH! At least twice a year.

Been a bunch of boats and people get beat up this way.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

Short story....when I was a boy my family camped alot but Dad didnt have a boat so he always borrowed his bosses boat for us kids to ski behind. Well, a storm was coming up quickly so Dad decided to move the boat to this small protected nook in the bank so once he pushed out and got the boat cranked he took off and the throttle hung wide open. Well, I guess from sheer panic he didnt think clearly and his best thought was to beach the boat on a sandy area to choke out the motor. It worked.....but a kill switch woulda worked better. Heck, there was nothing wrong with just using the key....but as I said maybe he panicked a little and didnt think clearly. Good thread...maybe it'll give someone something to think about just in case this hapopens to them.

Minner, if it can break I have broken it on a boat. This duck season I had the same thing happen, the blind on my duck boat got to running on the shift and throttle cable and the throttle cable broke. I also broke the steering cable, Froze one morning and I jerked a little too hard, thank god it happened at the ramp.
