I've seen some awful thin wire on some of those plugs. I don't think you said what # thrust, but I'm assuming your PDv2 is 24V 70#, but what you are experiencing is absolutely not the norm from what I hear out of the v2s. Mr Jim has one with Ipilot and loves it, for example.

Wannabe-I have the 12V 55#. I'm not sure of the wire gauge, as it was installed by Alumacraft at the factory and the trolling motor came with the boat ina package. I would hope that they would put large enough gauge wire on their package.

Hmmmm....you'd think a good manufacturer would and I'd put Alumacraft in that category. Still, I would check behind them. Take a look at the wire at the battery and make sure it's at least 8 gauge - which should be fine for a 12V motor. Then pull the panel at the plug up front and take a look. Could it be that your dealer rigged it with something sub-par????

Past that, I'm sorta stumped. No reason at all for a motor to overheat and pop the breaker just because it's on a load in the wind without there being resistance on the cable due to size. What amp is your breaker by the way? Could it be undersized?

I'm going to have a 60" Terrova 80#/US2/Ipilot for sale as soon as my 101 comes in.

Not sure about the breaker size as it's just a square box at the terminal connection to my battery. I'll take closer look at that and the wire at the plug when I get home from work. Thanks for the ideas.

Not sure what the problem is, but the issues you're having sure do sound voltage related. Let me know what you find and I'll noodle on it some more.
