    I have a 45" and wish I had the 54. I got mine at iboats.com but you have to call and ask for it. They had the best deal as well at the time. The 45" is too short if you fish from the back like I do most of the time. Any decent wave action and the motor is jumping out of the water wondering which way to go. It's going to cost me a $100 and an afternoon to get this little problem fixed. ($40 parts and $60 labor)

    Yikes, sell me yours, I'll give ya $400 and two slightly used motorguides. Sell the motoguides and buy ya one with a 54" shaft....Problem solved!:D

    Why would you worry about the length? I would definately go with the 54 on your setup. There is a reason that there is no 45's for sale. Most that need a 80# have to pull a bigger deeper boat around which sit higher off the water. Like yours. You won't regret the 54. Go FEELAY!!! Get it before Washington and I got an ipilot we can use.

    If you cut the shaft, it may void your warranty, think twice before you do that.
