DD, you need to ditch the buckets and go to 5' drift socks. Prolly 2 to get your boat down below 2 mph. Considering they're not that cheap, you might want to borrow Feelay's at Washington and test to see what his size will do on your boat to see what size you'll need. Those buckets just aren't cutting it. Also, Cabellas has some on sale right now.
BTW, what's the point of the holes in the buckets? Mine are stock.

True DD, but what I'm saying is while both of you are there, run back out and give it a shot. I'm thinking a pair of 36" and you're be right there for crank pulling.
Then again, someone mentioned idling down your motor. Can't say I remember your boat sounding as if it's idled too high, but there's a good idea if you have room to step it down a notch. You know how many rpms you're pulling at idle?

I am going with 2 of the 60" socks.

It is possible with an adjustment of the idle screw on the carb. Just depends on if it's set on the high side now. Last thing you want is to lower it to the point of having trouble with it dying at idle. This is a job for a mechanic though. Carb screws take much big heapum medicine man to adjust properly and incense and peace pipes are usually involved.
