Let's talk about next year's FJ's

Would any of ya'll be interested in fishing a tourney on the Tenn-Tom Waterway. Our Club, West Alabama Crappie Association has been knocking around the idea with the MCC about a MS\AL tourney. The thoughts are to fish 3 lakes on the waterway, with the weighin being at Pickensville, AL on aliceville lake. Gainsville and Columbus lakes would also be included as fishable water. That gives both states 2 lakes to fish from without buying out of state license. MS residents can fish the Aliceville lake all the way to the dam in Pickensville on MS license as AL residents can fish all the way to the dam at Columbus. This is just something we are kicking around and putting feelers out to determine what kind of participation we could get. I know our club averages about 21 boats per tourney.

WB we also have our rules posted on our web site if you wanted to save yourself some time and copy and paste and then edit what you dont like. Rules are listed under "about US"

It would be real easy to start over thinking this. We've got a good thing going. Everyone is friendly and I feel that was the original intent. Friends getting together for a good time and a little friendly competition. Wannabe did a great job setting this thing up and keeping everything on track. Torch, Sat Doc and Bigger also did a great job in organizing and running the tournaments. Maybe we should basically keep it like it is? Except I stick to the donuts and coffee suggestion.

You should have someone that is not fishing to do the weighing and keeping up with the weights...or al least the person keeping up with all the weights and keeping a running total....should not be fishing. One person should keep the Records...and have one person to back him/her up, and do the checks and balances. This main person should be compensated his/her expenses. There is a good chance there will be a lot more entries next year. Expenses would consist of gas money and nothing else.

I am not volunteering but would be open to think about doing it.

FYI 101, We actually have 3 people doing the weigh ins at each tourney. Most of the time I read the scales, WB writes down the weight and Torch puts the fish on the scales. All that want to see the weights are allowed to look at the readouts. If there is something not fair about this , you tell me what it is? For someone that doesnt fish them I dont see where you have any place complaining about the way things are run! :mad:

Also why should any one be compensated for doing the job. Torch , WB , and I havent recieved any money for doing this and arent asking for any. I personally bought the digital scales we are useing and havent asked for anyone to pay for them. This is supposed to be a FRIENDLY club gettogether tourney. No one seem to be complaining about the way it is being run that fishes in it cause they are there and are watching everthing that is going on!

HEY guys therse are just suggestions the ones that started these fun toun. has the final say so.All i'm suggestion is upping the money 15 more dollars a boat to add to the championship and that would draw more boats? maybee' I know there is always a chance that someone could cheat or whatever but if they wont to do that so be it in my mind they are not a true fisherman anyway and SPECKHUNTER is right lets not over think this thing just trying to get a few more boats to join us in a good time.I'll be fishing with you guys regardless what yall decide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeep, you stay out of this on that Single pole crap. I can bearly catch fish with 6 or 8 poles out. Single pole scares me, I ain't gonna lie. LOL

DonDon, you dont know what your missing that single pole thing once you do it trolling will be your second choice..........would rather have one in my hand than watching 6 or ten

I agree on the starting earlier in the year and having a little more fishing time on tourney day. Sure hated that CWT and I couldn't fish the final FJ and Championship. We sure would have loved to be there. My suggestion would be to keep things simple. We enjoyed the friendly competition, emphasis on Friendly. Thanks a million to WB, Torch, SatDoc and Bigger for all their hard work making everything enjoyable and FUN. CWT and I put our names in the hat for next years FJ series.

but every time I went to the rez, it was white capping and din't try it much. Now I do alot of easeing around with a pole in each hand though, waiting on the thump. Miss to many fish with the rods in the holders. I usually start out with the pole in the holders until the 4th miss, then they go in my hand. I just haven't had the chance to jig stumps and such with the rods much yet. Will this winter though provided the wind ain't kicking it like it has for the last 10 months at the rez.
