Default Welfare - America's spreading Cancer!

Tommy, well done...a dead on hit. In my eyes, Welfare is just a parasite which sucks the life out of our incomes nearly as bad as taxes do. The colorless scum of the Earth who've been bred and brought up to take full advantage of these systems, and of us. They are simply robbing from those who've earned it, needed it, or deserve it!

I am responsible for mine and my own. If you tell me a storm is coming and I ignore it, what right do I have in slinging insults towards the efforts anyone makes or doesn't make to assist me in my forewarned/avoidable delima? I am the one who created the situation by not acting! What was my motivation to do this in the first place?

I can only assume that a majority that stayed behind, did so to benefit from the disaster instead of fall victim to it. Surprise, surprise! Reap what you sow! For those lost or suffer who were innocent, and suffer undeserving, Heaven awaits and welcomes you with open arms! Rejoice in the Lord, for you are in His plan! For the others, I pray you knew or come to know the Lord and throw down your evil ways!

It sickens me to see generation after generation who live and thrive upon our Nation's Welfare System. A System which rewards recipiants for bringing children in to the world outside of wedlock. Where the recipiants view childern as income additions from public aid, not as blessings from God.

Though all of this tradgey sickens me, and I pray for everyones relief from this Huricane, I still cannot help but to believe that this is all according to God's will. I still will continue look for the good thats hidden within the bad.

No I haven't donated to the red cross and never will they are as corrupt as this administration is. We are having a food drive here and will donate to it, but only food items and money. Donations always seem to disappear before it gets to the people that acually need it.
Yes I agree that some of the people down there are just there to prey on the innocent victims but not all are there for profit. They emptied out the jails and turned them loose when the storm hit, and you also have the gangs that are probably the ones doing the looting. Believe it or not a lot of the people down there couldn't afford to leave if they wanted to. They don't have a car or money to leave. You don't seem to understand that a lot of those unfortunate souls are living below the poverty level, and don't have a choice as you or I do.

I heard on the radio today...if it is true.... that there were 2000 school buses there just sitting in parking lots most under water now. If so I wonder why they were not used to evacuate those poor people.

Tommy, I very much appreciate your post and input. In my opinion, which, by the way, I am entitled to, (for those of you who are so eager to bash), it speaks volumes.

Fishingpox I would also like to know why the mayor of New Orleans didn’t use the school bus to evacuate those that was unable to leave on there own. Or even why the didn’t get them to an area that wouldn’t be flooded so they could use them to transport people after the disaster, its not like they didn’t know it was coming.

Tommy is on the money. The world is not perfect. The BEAVER has crossed a fine line. That was very intolerant of him. This crisis is wearing on all of us. I'm in Indiana and feel helpless. THIS IS VAST DESTRUCTION.Every area is overwhelmed. The gov. of every state had the National Guard at their disposal and if they mismanaged them, I am sure SENATE Hearings will point the blame. New Orleans, if most choose to stay, than it must be assumed they choose poorly. The blame game is just starting and Teddy the swimmer should be making an appearance any time.Jesse Jackson is a given.I gave cash to the Sal army. The scool bus story will sink the mayor of New Orleans, I read yesterday the city owned 5000 buses and private cont. had 8500. At some point, everyone of us must assume some control over our destiny.I never saw a sign on a librairy that said "po foks not wekum. '' GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.

I too would be living under the poverty level if I didnt get out and make a living on my own. You have to make a decision, live in poverty, or do what it takes to get out. I understand their are sick people and handicap people who live in poverty, and I know they cant help it. Look at all those people who can help it though, just like some people said, they wanna take advantage of the government and the taxpayers who do get out and work. The government offers many resources to people who are willing to seek help to better themselves. I know this from personal experience. They offer childcare and college for females with little to no income, not to mention housing, food, water, and electricity and you guessed it health care. They offer college to disabled people to learn something they can do within their means. They offer college for people who lose their jobs from layoffs. Ask me how I know this. I worked hard to make just enough money to get by for a long time. My wife couldnt work a regular job because she had a lung disease. Mill work, fast food, and jobs of that nature were out of the question. The government paid for her a 2 year college degree and she received a full pell grant the entire time because of my low income. She now works as a nurse and makes almost 25 dollars an hour. I lost my job due to a permanant layoff, and the government paid for me a 2 year college degree with a full pell grant. I didnt take complete advantage of it because I chose to go back to work when an adequate opportunity arose. Which I think the college I had under my belt at the time helped me to land. I now make around 25 dollars an hour. I struggled at times to make it, but I never gave up. There are opportunities out there, I chose to take advantage of them. I could have sat back and done nothing, but with my will and some help from the government, I'm proud of where I am today. People need to stop blaming the government for all their problems. The people that I really sympathize with are those that didnt heed the warning due to the fact that they were hard working citizens that probably thought it would be like the many many times before and not hit. They probably wanted to work and make a living to support their family and needed every dime they could get. They didnt think it would be so bad, and wanted to be supportive for their family. You can say they should have left, and that life is not worth risking, but some people will do anything to support the people they love. Maybe those hard working folks that were fortunate enough to make it will move elsewhere and continue to be all they can be. Those that are too lazy to work, maybe they will self destruct. Those that steal and make a living by robbing from the hard working innocent people, may GOD deal with them. Love to you all

Tommy not only was this a very interesting read in itself but even more interesting is the fact that you won't see any mainstream media touting or refuting the contents expressed. It will be completely ignored because the mainstream media can't deal with a reasonable and logical discourse on any current hot issues.
I would like to see how John Stossel of ABC's 20/20 would approach this article. But really doubt the welfare state can be assailed in the current climate that holds "political correctness" as a shield and or club against reasoned and logical debate.
“There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide.” Ayn Rand

Crappie Seeker, I was offered a 2 year college upon my layoff in the Aircraft industry. I had taken them up on it and enrolled. Just before classes were to begin, I asked what would happen if I landed a job while in school. (Two years would have put me within 22 hours of a Bachelors) I was told that if I gained a job, that I would immediately lose the funding for the schooling and have to pay it back. It was not even worth starting, as I had no choice but to find some kind of work to try and support my wife, a newborn, twins at 3 yrs, along with a 13, 12 and 10 year old. That's right, 6 children. My wife came with three, and we had three of our own. I would not change a thing other than my younger years when I thought that school cut into my foosball and pool playing in the student lounge. Once again, no ones fault but my own. I accept my wife with her 3 children, I accept the fact that I will never have much. But, I reiterate, the Government owes me nothing.
