    Default Tent Heaters

    I have a couple fishing trips planned for NOvember. One the fist week and the other the last week.
    I was wondering how a electric space heater would work. I've had recxomendations for the BUddy Heater But I'm trying to keep things as light as possible. {less loading and unloading}
    My tent is 10 by 14. You all have any recommendations.

    Thumbs up Try it...

    ...went camping last year when it got to 40's low 50's at night worked OK if you was in front of heater....was warmer than without heat.......you could always set your tent up week before you go and give it a test run.. :D ..also make sure you carry an extension cord heavy-duty enough to carry draw of heater....small house style cord will get very warm, could catch something on fire....have fun!!

    although; you could take Mr. Buddy fishing with you on boat....

    I've got the Mr Buddy propane heater myself and highly recommend it. I do alot of camping where there is no electric, so propane was the way to go. I can't imagine any electric heater that would be easier to transport or move around than the Mr Buddy. Plus if you ever had a power failure at home, you could use the Mr Buddy there also.

    I would be careful Shellback, the burning propane in the tent you take a chance of getting carbon Monoxide poisioning. Would sure hate to someone die becuase of not take precausions.

    The little Coleman Catlytic Propane Heater works pretty good. You can run it indoors and it will keep a small space warm without the fear of CO poisoning death. I had one that burned up when some arsonist torched our old jalopy camper that we stayed in at our hunting camp. But before that thats the heat source we used in there and we didn't freeze to death. Used it once when it was about 20 outside and we were ok till th propane ran out about 3:00. Then it got real cold real fast. But it works good in a tent I've heard. I've had friends borrow it and they we're satisfied.

    I use the Coleman Focus 5 propane radiant heater in my ice house and fish trap. I wouldn't recommend using a propane heater in a tent for the fact that it is rather air tight, where as my ice house and ice trap isn't quite so tight. It will keep you warm but the risks are great. I don't sleep in my ice house or trap.

    Default ?

    I'm sorry I can't be any more specific, but seems like I have heard of a
    propane-fired model with a heat exchanger that sits outside the tent -
    sort of a mini central unit, sucks air out, runs it through the exchanger,
    then back in - I forget where I saw this, but it looked/sounded like the
    ticket. Anybody know the one I'm talking about?

    The Mr Buddy propane heaters are designed for use in tents, and have a low ox shut off. My tent also has a mesh ceiling in it which allows it to breathe. The tent fly keeps the weather out. It also puts out from 4,000 to 9,000 BTU's. I would never leave any type heater, propane, electric, or whatever on while I slept or while it was unattended in my tent. Good way to burn your tent and yourself up!

    I've heard a lot of good reports about the BUddy Heater. My tent has a mesh ceiling in it as well. But if you don't don't leave it on while you sleep aren't you going to freeze to death.
