i believe that if it werent for B.A.S.S. we would not have been here. it costs a lot of money to host a tourney. look at foot ball, or any major sport if they wouldnt pimp them selves out htey wouldnt be able to afford to pay the over paid babbons. now i personnally love mike iconnelly 1 hes from louisiana if im not mistaken. hes like the bad boy of fishing and it gives the show a little flair whooo as rick flair would say.

As much as it pains me, I have to agree with crap-king. (just kidding) The sponsors are a necessary evil. I don't drink beer, I don't need Cialis or Viagra, (huh-hmmmm, not yet anyway) & I'll probably never own a $40,000 boat. But they make it possible for me to watch the fishing shows I enjoy so much. If they gave me a new boat, motor & fishing tackle & made it possible for me to fish whenever I wanted to I would be shouting their names every chance I got too. It doesn't bother me the way Mike Iaconelli acts, although sometimes I do mute the TV when he starts yelling. I did hear the other day that he might have gotten disqualified on purpose last year just to get his sponsors more exposure. I guess in this case bad publicity is better than none at all. The Classic has become more commercialized but so has a lot of other things. But d**n, David, I hope it NEVER gets as bad as wrestling.

My contention is that this is suppose to be a family oriented sport and the young kids don't need to have the exposure of the beer and sexual inhansement drugs flashed on the screen telling them to have a good time they need these products. As for "IKE" I have never seen Clunn.Nixon,Breaur,KVD, or any of the other great fishermen have to scream at the top of their lungs or throw themselves on the deck and make an ass out of themselves. But it is as one said you have to promote yourself, especially when you don't have any talent. As with Marilyn Mason no talent, but a lot of followers. Just my point of view.

Don't forget they have to bleep most of Ike's word when things don't go his way or is in one of his temper fits on the front of his boat. I know how most of you feel about PETA but Ike flopping a bass around on the front of the deck is just give them ammo for the campain. I will give him that he tries to help the sport and the younger generation but we don't need them to have a role model that gets beeped when he gets mad. Come on have a little more respect for yourself.!!

hehe.... what made me say that was noticing the guys with body paint that said Mercury. I thought that was a little over the top. Like wrestling matches hand out signs at the door already with stuff on them for the crowd to hold up. I wouldn't have put it passed BASS or MERCURY to have paid those boys to paint themselves up. I bet those guys were excited because to be on tv.

Our local boy Timmy Horton did well. Proud of him. I think he finished in the top 10. Was in 7th the second day.

I don't know why I even have an opinion on the deal, I fish for crappie full time now

i just asked my 14 year oldstep-son what calais was..........his response was "aint that a kind of cutlass" if oldenough to know what these sponsors are selling i think their old enough to know weather it's bad or good.........
