I remember the sixties, our great country divided as never before, political and racial assassinations,our cities burned to the ground, rioting in the streets,the very brink of nuclear war, 58,000 of my brothers in arms killed, hundreds of thousands more wounded, myself included, all today still carrying the emotional scars. Yeah I remember the sixties, I pray that wind will not blow again.Don, you are correct, we need to all pull together for the sake of our country.

i think that we have been changing for quite a while, with job losses and rising costs making it tough for the working man and woman. but i think the real discontent began with the invasion of iraq. we need to stop the divisivness and begin to heal and move forward.

poss, i could not agree with you more. i have family and close friends who were forever changed by that period. i think we all were, even those who did not go over. the past few years i felt that we were returning to that period also. i pray that we can find another way to pull together.

wv strives on coal and obama has said he is gonna try to do away with it i really don't think he is a very smart cat hes probably gonna go down if that holds truth

coal gives us alot of power/energy and i think the biggest would be steel i really dont think he thought about his statement on it really because if he does away with coal there will be no new steel for cars and buildings and what ever else takes coal all i can say is he best not ever come to wv and talk his junk some union guys will have his butt i hope it dosent lead to some tragedy like that because of his family anyone who is thinking of taking basically a whole states jobs away definately is not gonna be very good for the rest of Americans sorry for ranting about this like i have but man basically this whole state and well honestly the rest of America is highly dependent on coal and i do not know the exact figures but i would think that the coal industry provides jobs for more that 50% of this state great paying jobs also i have a lot of family members that have and still do work in the mines or the river i guess ill stop for now but i will try and keep people posted on what his plans are

Just a question as I see you are unhappy about this subject....what is the difference "on the ground level" between common coal being used now and the clean coal that Obama and mccain talked about so much? I researched it briefly and it seems that there is just more care taken during processing to try and eleviate some of the by-products. Is this "on the ground level" the same as shutting the plants down as far as coal people see it? I can see that it would cost a lot more to these cleaning procedures but I have also spent some time in Harlan county Kentucky and the country side has literally been raped. Big strips of ground carved away from the mountainsides and a foul odor hanging in the air. Seems they could use a little cleaning up but my livelyhood doesn't depend on those dollars so it's easy for me to say.

this nation was founded on the basis of freedoms of oppression.one of those freedoms was religion.we have long since edged away from our religion to just mere freedom of whatever leaving God behind.what was the result in the bible of forgetting God.he allowed his own people to be tormented and even destroyed.first and formost we are commanded to put God first even over family and country and anything that you want to think of.when we are deciding on priorities our Lord should be first,even during elections.yes my vote went for mccain and since i have been old enough to vote and both bushs got the other ones.not for their politics or their parties but because of their beliefs.they all stood up against great immorals such as abortion,stem cell research,gay marriage,and also had prayer in assmblies when it was thought to be not the right thing to do.on the other hand look how our new elect has already as a (christian) has shaded himself.association with radicals,siding with gays and homosexuals,all but condoning abortion and stem cell research,and is scared to define life at conception.isnt that where life comes from.so tell me which way the good Lord would have us go.i pray that our new elected leader will surround himself with good moral and ethical christian people and i will praying that we all here in this country will do the same and go back to the reason we were brought here.not the best with words but God bless all of us and this great nation.

Hope,there is some morals left in Washington DC to be had,seems every time you turn around there 's a scandal,corruption or something. I know I'm not perfect either and struggle everyday,but I'm not running for office either. But, I hope it works out for us as a country.
