actually whittled away by politicians who serve corporations and special interest groups ahead of their constituents and the constitution.
i do agree, that if we become a Godless nation, we are doomed. we have been so blessed, so fortunate that even our poor live better than many in other countries.
minnow, i have been through georgia a few times in my life, and i have to give you your props, sir....you are every bit the gentleman that i have run into down there. again, thanks for your civility and i too will pray that God guides our new president and our lawmakers into what is right.
rapman you did your homework and I congratulate you for that.
thanks, friend, but google has done the work for a few years. i just learned how to save it. man, i love your state too. the sooner my company closes down our shop, the sooner i can move south.
OutLaw...because I am an educator, I see it from the inside out as well as from outside, within. The problem that gov't has placed on the public education system is creating an "atmosphere" where talented, dedicated teachers are LEAVING becasue they are talented and going into the private sector where they can: 1) make more money and 2) be rewarded for their effort.
You are correct in your statement that parents needs to provide proper training to their children before they get to school. However, there are hundreds of thousands of kindergarteners that start school w/o knowing what a BOOK is!
Our problem is that the parents that are considered at the poverty level either work two, sometimes three jobs just to keep the lights on. How do they have the time to read a book? Some stay at home and sit on the couch and do , nada. They do not see the value of an education and they pass that complacenecy on to thier children, and there childrens children, and so on.
My job is to break that cycle in my school, my state, and our country in the next 30-40 years unless I otherwise die first.

rapman1, you are right. It's hard to argue with facts. America definitely needs a change from the way things have turned. My biggest problem/fear is just how far the other way things may be headed. We could all argue forever on why our candidate was better than the other, and find facts to show why the other guy is wrong. In the end, we'd probably have equal lists of stupid things each has done or said, and still no clear better choice. It's over and done. The country has spoken. All we can do now is wait and see. And go fishing. Don't know if anyone noticed, but fall is here. Crappie are bitin', and they don't care who's president.

ain't that the truth...happened with clinton in 93, bush through 6 years, and now possibly with the new administration. we don't seem to do well when one party has all the power. all we can do is hope that obama can put together a bi-partinson government. it has already been rumored that he will ask gates to stay on and possibly put colin powell (great choice) into a cabinet position. with a mix of repubs and dems, maybe he can make a change for the better. all we can do is pray and write our legislators and force them to do their jobs with integrity or vote them out.
I applaud your efforts Hound,I have the utmost respect for the teachers I've had over the years to take a old hard head like me and challenge me to learn. I used to say at a young age I graduated from the school of hard knocks ,that is, until I entered college and found out what hard knocks really meant.lol
College...wow! What an eye opener! Made me quit and join the military...liked it but it drove me back to school. LOL! Now I have a job that is worse than college and tougher than the military! Ohhh, how I love it! :D

amen, one of the hardest and most underpaid of all professions. (along with cops, firemen and the military). it takes a special person to be able to teach all different levels of kids each day and to maintain patience. i know i could not do it. kudos to all educators, all levels.
