BE CAREFUL, watch your step or you will be eye to eye with some of them. A real PIA.
Now that's nuts! Your Carpenter should not have left any spaces between the deck boards. Years ago, we would use a carpenters pencil to space decks, then went to a 16d nail, and now with the 5/4 pressure treated deck material, you have to try and get that stuff as tight as you can so when the moisture drys out of it, the deck gaps will be minimal. As for the Acorns, you gonna need a rake 'fore it's all said and done.

LOL...good one Cane Pole. I've been all fired up over this election stuff and saw "Acorn sucks". I opened it expecting, well, ya know. Great misdirection!! From the pics you've been posting I'm suprised you have time to notice the acorns with all the crappies you've been out catching.

LOL, oops, sure didn't mean to dog ya on that. Now I feels bad. (hangs head in shame) I've seen and tore out decks that were done by so called "pros", and yours does not look bad at all. I've seen some decks shrink so bad that legs of chairs started falling through the cracks. Wish I lived closer to some of you guys so I could help out with a few of those home projects. Since I don't drink much beer anymore, think of the savings you could have...in labor and beer. I'm fixing to do a simple 34' x 24' at a house on Grand lake I've been trimming. Did up 568' of custom distressed beams for this house. This homeowner sticking more woodwork in this thing than Boise Cascade can produce. He recently informed me he is going to want a bunch of different diaganol patterns on the deck itself. That in itself will double the labor if not more. Got two more homes up the Lake about 5 miles starting tommorrow to boot. One of them is going to have some of the fancy pants railing made from tree limbs that have had the bark removed. Those things are always fun to fit just right. Gotta use a 4.5" chainsaw blade on the grinder for them. I am sure the next time I am in Tenn, I'll have a truckload of tool along with me. I'll make sure a few of ya'll get a heads up with fair warning so you can hide.

They do suck CP, I've got them like that here at my house.....but it could be worse.....I told my neighbor to get rid of the hickory trees close to his house when he was building ....he gave me one of those looks that told me he didn't want any advice.....we had a good stiff wind last week about 2 in the morning....now his new dodge pu looks like it went through a major hail storm....and yes that is exactly what his expression was when he saw it.
