    Default Contour gauge usage

Can any carpenters out there explain to me why the end of a contour gauge is angled? I have no idea at all!

Flat ends would stop on a high spot if you were using it for stone. Instead of the contour at the point you’d want, you’d get the highest bump witching the width of the pins.

I would have never figured that out if I lived to be 200. Thank you so much for the help
