Have a Troy-Bilt tiller. Believe in planting wide crop rows when planting. Tiller works up a 20 inch path. So I work up the whole garden to either 3 or 4 inches deep. Then when doing rows for planting, work the row on down to 8 inches. For beans, we make 2 rows, within the 20 inch width, and the rows are between 6 to 8 inches apart. Then we plant the beans 2 seeds together, spaced 3 to 4 inches apart. My grandfather always said to plant this way, one for the cut worm, and one for you. You get better germination this way, takes up less space, and I think you get better yield too. When we plant peppers, we do 2 plants across form each other, then 1, then 2, not spaced too far apart, and we plant around 32 this way. Yes peppers have flowers, but when they touch early, they will usually flower sooner. Hope this helps others.
