    Default Pictures being rotated???

If you go to the TEST forum you will see a post where I posted a picture three times.

#1 is how it came out of the phone - posted other places just fine. It is rotated 90° to the left.

so I used a photo editor and rotated it 90° to the right and reposted - that is #2

so I rotated the original 90° to the left and that is #3

I cannot seem to get the picture to post in the original format, with the fish head up and the tail down.

Someone steer me in the right direction (pun intended).

When you post a cellphone picture on this site, in order to get the picture to come out oriented correctly, you must tilt your cellphone 1/4 turn to the right. If you take the picture with the phone upright (portrait mode) and post it here, it will be tilted 1/4 turn to the left (as in your #1 picture). If you take the picture with the phone tilted 1/4 turn to your left, your picture will post upside down.

This is caused by something this site does not recognize in the orientation of the cellphone picture, and tries to correct it to "landscape mode" by turning the orientation of the picture 1/4 turn to the left. That may be why your photo editor orientation move did not succeed. (someone explained that it had to do with the ID numbers associated with the picture and the site being unable to read those numbers, or something like that ... it's all over MY head !! )

I still don't know why this is happening - BUT - I now know how to fix it. I took the original which was in the JPG format - opened it in my photo editor - and saved it to a PNG format, and it is now correctly positioned.
