Default 12yr old steel guitar player.

Wanted to share a video of my son playing his first steel guitar show. He is really into pedal steel and its a lost art.

Very cool. I have played guitar and bass in bands for over 40 years. The one instrument that I always wished I would have learned was the steel guitar. The sound can evoke joy, loneliness, or sadness. It's so expressive, so "American", and speaks to the soul. I hope he sticks with it. Good job by him.

I, like crappiewisdon, have played with bands all my life and never have seen the likes of this young man. He is a natural talent for sure! He could audition in Nashville, BUT he needs a few more years of grooming to be fully ready for the 'big time'.
Awesome talent for his young age!! :-)

You have reason to be proud. Your son is very talented.

After hearing Robert Randolph, Steve Howe of Yes and David Gilmore of Pink Floyd play the steel, I find it hard to go back to the country style steel. Too much rocker in my blood.

Yep, to the bone! Saw them both in concert.

Examples of their work on the steel slide is "Going For The One" by Yes and "One Of These Days" by Floyd. If you are not familiar with Robert Randolph, you should be. Google his videos.
