Anyone here attract Purple Martins? Last fall I put up a new aluminum martin house and this spring I have had several martins look at it but none have stayed around for over a day. This house replaced a wood one I had built and put up but it started rotting last year. I was wondering if maybe I need to put some nesting material in to soften the bare aluminum.![]()

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
From what I have read it's a no,no on the nesting material. In fact it said you need to pull it down and clean everything out at the end of each season.

Clean and de- louse. Need to do every year.
To much noise on the aluminum roof when it rains![]()

The only thing I've ever experienced with martins is sparrows taking over before the martins arrive. Have to eradicate sparrows before martins will inhabit the
house. Good luck.
