[ The ethanol industry keeps farmers from going broke, period. Many of your larger producers also own the logistics firms which move the raw and finished materials, grain elevators, feed mills, etc.[/QUOTE]
Farmers are not going to go broke without ethanol, I know a lot of larger producers and most all of them are too busy with their own work to be moving ethanol products before or after the process. I don't know of one that owns their own elevator unless it is for there own personal use.
If ethanol production's main goal is to keep farmers from going broke fine.......... but don't try and push an inferior product for the purpose stated and try and say it's great!
Most people do not understand that ethanol not only attracts h20.......it has h2o in it from production, If you take 50% ethanol ( 100 proof ) the other 50 percent is NOT ethanol it is other esters and water............you cannot separate the water from the etho you can reduce it with multiple distillations but you cannot remove it.

Ethanol is used in racing engines because it provides MORE POWER!!!!!
Ethanol cleans out the deposits left by gasoline!!!
These are FACTS.
Tell me how this is bad for my engine?

You are right on the money in post #44......... then swerved down the racing road........They run ethanol in racing for one reason paid sponser! you can be sure nascar or any other racing sanction gets paid to run ethanol.......And they drain the fuel cell and all fuel components after each race......I'll give you a guess as to why

Ethanol creates more power and the motors runs cooler than on gas, Nascar run Gas not ethanol. the reason that they drain the fuel cell and components is because the ethanol is tough on aluminum. It is also tough on the foam in the fuel cells which is one reason they run special fuel cells made just for ethanol its not because of water in the fuel.

Racing is about winning. Fact is ethanol makes more power than gasoline, it's safer than gasoline, and if environmentally friendly. You can make ethanol out of your yard waste. Corn was chosen because of the support structure. Brazil uses sugarcane for the same reason.

Anhydrous ethanol is 99% per the standard...it can be produced as high as 99.9% pure. Fuel grade ethanol doesn't have as much water in it (when leaving the production facility) than you might think. There are much worse things in your gasoline than ethanol btw. Around here you can still get nonblended gas but its getting harder and harder to find. Plenty of folks are racing on e85 - its cheaper than "race gas" and runs much better.
