I don't know if it will work with today's rods .... but, I left a rod in the back seat of my car, a long time ago, and it was so long that it stayed bent at the tip. I don't remember it staying in the car for more than a day or so, but when I took it out the Sun had set it permanently in that bend.
I've also heard of rods getting a permanent bend set in them, from having the line pulled tight & making the tip stay bent ... & leaving them in the trunk of a car (heat) or back of a pickup (Sun). But I don't know how long they'd have to be exposed to the heat/sunlight to permanently set the bend in the rod.
You might also consider putting some heavier line on it, than what you'd normally have on it to fish with, then bending the rod with the line anchored to hold the bend. If you were going to mount this display on some kind of backboard ... you could mount the rod to the board, then tie a bait on the line or just use empty line & tie it to a small nail/screw/staple in the board to hold the rod in a bent position. If you have a fish mount, you could also use that ... maybe even run the line into the fish's mouth & out thru the gills on the backside & tie it off to a nail/screw ... make it look like the fish swallowed the bait (and not have the tension of the rod bend pulling on the mount).
