No, they do not serve the same purpose. One is to load the magazine, the magazine is to load the weapon. You cannot use the clip to load the weapon. The only thing they have in common is they both hold rounds.

The difference is simple. The failure to use proper terminology makes one look like an idiot. Understandable when you don't know, however if someone is teaching you the proper terminology it is disrespectful to slander them in the process.

This little confusion is the exact same confusion our congressional leaders have. They don't understand gun terminology and want to pass laws based on that ignorance.

Yes this is a Crappie forum, however most sportsman hunt and fish. We also have young'uns on this site who are learning what your teaching. That it doesn't really matter.
