    Default Generators

Getting ready to purchase a generator. What size would you recommend for running a heat pump, water heater, well pump, etc?

We are looking at the Generac units. Our neighbor is installing a 17K unit this week. I think Home Depot sized his out for him.

I will be working with a local, highly recommended installer. I prefer the small business folks.

Any suggestions as to what size..

    Rusty, my pockets are empty.

Hi Don: I just bought a Yamaha 2400 Inverter. It's powerful, quiet, will run an RV A/C A little costly, but really a good one.

If we had NG here I would get one of those whole house gens. But we don't even have water or sewage.

I have a 10K unit that runs the whole house as well as the water well. My furnance, range, and hot water heater run on propane. Check your hot water heater - It will draw the most wattage in your house, 5K or more on some units. If I had to it all over again, I would have bought a propane/duel fuel generator. I plan on converting mine before the next hurricane season.

We have a 12.5 Generac and it works great, it runs off NG, the cost is minimal, only thing we did was install a Gas water heater and stove, so the biggest energy drawers are NG
