I've worked hard all my life for the things I have and I'm damn well going to do my best to preserve them. For all you folks that think Bush failed, or America failed, maybe you might think about getting your own ducks in order. My thoughts and prayers go out to the sick and elderly that died or suffered thru the storm. But it was not Bush who was responsible to get them out, it was the city and local govt responsiblity and they didn't call for the help to get people out before the storm. My heart also goes out to those who lost everything they've worked all their lives for. But to tell the truth I'm about sick of hearing all this complaining from folks that never had a damn thing and just lived off the govt their whole lives anyhow.
The photo post that Don G put up really tugged at my heart. There was a community that suffered through earlier storms and rebuilt, and now were prepared to do it again. Proud people, American people, ones that ain't sitting there whining, but getting on with the business at hand and taking care of themselves. These are the people that built America and made it the place it is today. I'm damned proud of those folks and others like them thru out America. It's my belief you could give all those whiners and complainers all the resources in the world and they probably couldn't help themselves! Proud people, hard working people, people who know they have the responsibilty for themselves are the ones who make a difference in the world. Not those that sit and wait for someone else's help. I'm sure I'll ruffle alot of feathers with this post. I'm not going to debate anyone over it either. That's my stance, If my fellow man needs help, I'll be there for them, but if they are able, they'd better be trying to help themselves first rather than waiting on me.
You hit the nail right on the head!!

I feel it is for those that can help to help those that appear to need help.
Whether they do or do not need help shall be determined at a later date by One that is far more knowing than us. "What goes around will one day come around"
I can't leave now; They fixen to turn on.

    Default i agree

i agree with you guys. help should be given to those who NEED it, not those who don't want to work on their own. heck, my family gutted out half of my cousin's house in slidell to get her in a position to hire a contractor to do the finishing work. if we would have waited to hear from FEMA or an insurance agency, her house would have been filled with mold and ruined. i grew up in lafayette, la...not a rural town, but i've had my share of hurricanes growing up. when a storm hits you fix what you can as fast as you can. you get back on your feet as soon as you can. the more people who get up and running will help the whole community get up and running. if we all sat around and waited for agencies to help us, we would have been still sitting there.

i'm all for social programs but i want those programs well run. that's all.
