Boats out of commision for a while.

Worked on the plywood lamanite yesterday and today. Got it cut out and all my holes drilled over size. Gave it a coat of thinned resin and let it cure over night. Today I taped one side of the holes and filled them with regular resin to seal and fill in the holes.

I also removed the rivits on the transome bracket I had installed. I drilled the 3/16 holes to 1/4 and install the pan head screws and lock washers. I put 3m 5200 on the inside and behinf the head and washer. They should be sealed for life.

While cleaning the outside of the transom I found some deep pitting from corrosion. I think after I get the transom in and sealed I am going to bed line the transome before I put the motor on. I'm not doing this to water seal it but to keep the corrosion from eating all the way through

Ok just let me know and i send in a quote.... lol. Here are this pics from yesterday. Was kind of sticky fingered and didnt want to use my phone.

This evening I will be doing some sanding and final fit the transom board in the hull. I need to make a drain tube for the big hole in the center. I am going to machine it out of stainless pipe at work, it will be epoxied in place. I will re drill all the holes to actual size then fasten them with a little 3m 5200 for extra water proofing. I have a piece of aluminum c-channel coming in to cap it off with. I had to cut the top cap off in orfer to not bend the transom to get the wood out.
I'll trim the white goo off when I am done with all the other bolts before I bedline the transome.

So it will still be a while before I can put the motor back on and at least a week for the bedliner to cure. I'll keep posting progress.

I probably couldnt go fishing anyway. Family re-unions, kids dance recitals and hot weather.

In installed the transom board last night and was pressed for time so I did not get pics. I put 3m 5200 around every hole before I put the board in. Put a bolt in every hole and tightened them down to seal the metal to wood holes. Alot of the bolts are going to be removed to put the splash guard in so I did not put 5200 on the bolts or washers. The bolts should just tap out today and the metal and wood be sealed good. When i re install the bolta the will get a coating of 5200.

I made a new splash well drain this morning at work to replace the alum one that got bent up. It will be glued in with the 3m 5200 as well. I am going to scuff yhe outside more for grip.

One problem I ran into was the 5/32 allen socket would strip out on about every 3rd screw. I tried 5 different tools and none would screw them. The nuts were not even near the material. I dont know if the locknut was gaulded or just a bad hex on the screw. I emailed the supplier on it. Hopefully they will give me a solution to this, because some of them may not come back out and I already had to cut about 8 of them off and replace them. Attachment 306171Attachment 306172

Thanks everyone. And yes it is stainless steel, 1" schedule 160 pipe. Was going to use aluminum but the biggest I had on hand was 1".

Put the motor on the Pool where the Hose is connected --- It will turn some Heads ..... I was wondering if Metric was what caused the Screws to strip... When you finish Paint a sign on the back ... MADE IN AMERICA

Stainless fasteners are bad to gauld....if using a drill to put them in ....put them in slow.

Lol!! Nah. I dont want to buy another pool.

As far as gaulding the bolts, I tried a regular allen, a ratchet with allen head, and a 1/4" impact. They all would spin in some of the sockets. I could not back them out to remove them , used bolt cutters to get them out.

I had a family reunion today so I got in late afternoon. Idid a little more work this evening. I got most of the hard to get to bolts done and the splash well also. More work to be done tomorrow and sould be gettimg the little welding dom some time next week. Then bed lining the transome.
