The gator lottery in Louisiana is a crock. Season opened last Friday, Sept 1. Keep applying each year, but lose out. I was told that only 10-12% are accepted in the Atchafalaya Basin. Why is it that the "reality" stars get the permits? I know folks who operate the oil and gas field on Weeks Island. Alta Mesa Resources bought the production from Shell a few years ago. When I worked the field for Shell many years ago, I accidentally was able to tote a couple home.

Ann did some more tug toys for her event, thought I'd share:

Rib eyes worked, like them slightly charred on the outside, with a medium juicy interior:

Redge's sourdough is rising nicely. Yep, will work good this evening:

Back to it, sun is beginning to fall early.

Never mind the torn up bed and nasty floor. For some reason, my people likes to be with me in the shop. I reside here most of the time. Thought I'd share.

Ann bought some special pasta this morning to make her own mac and cheese. Will include smoked Gouda cheese, mild cheddar, ground mustard seed, heavy cream, and garnished with french fried onions and bacon bits:

She is also baking a homemade cheesecake for this evening. The real thing. Of course, yours truly will fire up the grill/smoker late this afternoon. Until then, got things to do - back on the chainsaw. Just taking a short break.

The baked cheese cake will work I guess - chocolate this time. Ann says it's special chocolate, we'll see.

I prefer the traditional kind - oh well. Grill about about ready:

Yours truly likes things on the grill/smoker. I'm whipped, been at it since 6:00 am. That's the way roll Walmart shoppers.

Randy did pork steaks on the grill. I made the cheesecake and mac and cheese in the pressure cooker. This gadget has renewed my interest in cooking and I'm having fun trying new and different things. Plus it doesn't heat up the kitchen, doesn't have to be watched closely, and in most cases it's quicker than the stove.
