The logistics of the drilling, producing, refining, and movement of petroleum products most don't understand. Many are claiming that the oil companies are gouging the consumers at this time at the gas pumps due to the devastation of hurricane Harvey. Some claim that the oil companies are sitting on "billions of profits".

The cost involved in drilling and producing a well is roughly $500K a day. The total expenditure is roughly $35 billion a year and a total CAPEX of $167 billion a year in the past four years. This does not include exploration (seismic, etc.) and acquisition costs. The "billions of profits" is a working capital required to do business.

Also I might add, contrary to what some believe, natural gas production in the Gulf has decreased, while oil production has increased due to the activity in the pre-salt.

Roughly 45% of the refineries are situated along the Gulf Coast. When a disruption occurs, it effects all. Folks post links from Forbes, Time, CNN, etc. about the situation, and make judgement from someone sitting at a news desk somewhere. They "quote" what they interpret because they don't know.

I've been in this business for over forty years, and don't believe in bigfoot nor what the Kardashians or gator killing folks are doing on the TV.

Back to it, lots of storm debris in the yard and driveway.

The Spicy Dog seasonings will be included this time. A big to-do with special labels, bottles, box gift sets, etc. She will be contacting you before long about a banner. She also tied a bunch of felt tug toys today. A very good cause for sure.

Yep, progress to educate those who want to learn. And, teach them well. I take this serious. That's the way to roll.

Ann says she is making sloppy Joe's this evening. She hasn't done that for over twenty years I believe. Calling it good this afternoon after cleaning up the debris in the yard. Much more to do tomorrow on the driveway. Yours truly has to follow the college football opening weekend.

Our ruby throats are so territorial they chase any others away. We never have more than two at the feeders. All we have are ruby throats.
