After a great weekend with my buddies, had to get back to work out here. The University is closed for Mardi Gras. Set posts on porch/deck number four. Those timbers and 80 pound sacks of concrete setting them will work a man for sure - I tear that up. Good for the soul.

One more deck to go after this one. I like doing doing such things. Just think, there are some folks watching television right now. Not the way I roll.

Grow an avocado tree Gene, I can't get it right. I want to see/learn how a master does it. Like we talked about last weekend, I've tried and tried. Even went to the LSU ag center to no avail. I can eat sliced avocados like candy, love them. I also meant to ask you about netting to keep the birds off the peach trees.

I do have a small avocado tree in a pot that I might put in the ground or I might move it up to a larger pot so that I can move it into the greenhouse during the winter.
Bird netting works well on keeping them off your trees. If you tree isn't too big, build a frame with some 1" PVC pipe and drape the netting over it. You do have to weight it down to the ground or them smart a$$ birds will find a way in.

Here it is Lent after Ash Wednesday. Yours truly will enjoy a shrimp and lump crab meat pizza this evening. Looking forward to it. Sure would enjoy some Lorna Donne cookies afterwards - oh well.

Very good Larry, well done. I'm impressed. I'll finish off the pizza this evening - without the Lorna Donne cookies I might add.
