Then the lights were turned on and everyone sang our national anthem. Then all military past and present were called to the stage to lower and retire the flag for the night. I was in the upper section and was one of the last on stage, however the 2 guys behind me both had MS. We all had to say our name and branch,, then got a nice ovation. As if this was not enough, then the real honor came for me. I stayed with the 2 guys with MS and helped them up the hundred or so steps to their wheel chair. Another vet with Parkinson's also stayed with us. That was what made me feel honored. Those 2 friends did all they could to get to this ceremony, which was the last one until next Memorial Day.They thanked me profusely for my help and mentioned they did not think they could ever come again and were so glad they made it. I thanked them for their service and had to get going, before I started crying. I was met by a huge hug from my favorite person and my niece. A great finish to this area, on to Yellowstone next.
we all proud o you buddy.....keep us posted.
